When should the customer sign?+
At minimum at pickup, acknowledging the terms and condition of the goods, and again at delivery accepting the shipment. Both should be dated.
What if the customer refuses to sign at delivery?+
Note the refusal and the reason on the document, have the crew sign as witnesses, and record any exceptions. A documented refusal is far stronger than a blank line.
Do drivers sign too?+
Yes. Driver or agent signatures alongside the shipper create a complete, mutually acknowledged record.
